Firefighters & volunteers battle
a blaze on the slopes of Signal Hill in Cape Town, South Africa. Strong
summer winds & man’s negligence often lead to fires like these that rage in
the Cape. Smokers are the main cause as they toss their cigarette butts
still glowing into the endemic ‘Fynbos’ (plant life) that is only found in
this part of the world. The dry & hot conditions mixed with the winds that
blow make the Cape a fire hazard waiting to happen.
